Act One | Act Two is a pair of residential towers built by Emaar in the Opera District of Downtown Dubai. The name gives the location away: the buildings sit right beside Dubai Opera, so if you've come for a show, you won't need a taxi to get there.

This is somewhere people actually live. It isn't a hotel, so don't expect a lobby bar or a concierge desk. What you get instead is your own front door, a kitchen and access to the same facilities the residents use.

Life inside the towers

Most people end up spending their time at the pool. It's temperature-controlled and looks out towards Burj Khalifa, which makes an early swim or a late one feel a little less ordinary. Next to it there's a steam room and a fully equipped gym, so you can keep your routine going while you're away.

There's a residents' lounge if you need a change from your apartment. Outside you'll find landscaped areas with barbecue zones. Cafés, restaurants and a few shops are on site, which helps when you just want a coffee or a quick dinner without going anywhere.

Security is on duty around the clock. Parking is covered and allocated, so a hire car has a proper space to go back to.

Our apartments and who they suit

We have apartments in both towers. Most are one-bedrooms, and we also have some two-bedrooms, which are in Tower 2. Each one is laid out a little differently, so check the details on the individual listing rather than assuming they're all the same.

A one-bedroom suits a couple or a solo traveller who wants Downtown on the doorstep without paying for a hotel suite. The two-bedrooms make more sense for families or friends travelling together. The building is set up well for children too, with a kids' play area and pool, a playground and family rooms.

The Dubai Mall is close by, and the rest of Downtown is within easy reach. You'll get the most out of a stay here if your days revolve around this part of the city.

Questions people ask

Which tower will I be staying in?

That depends on the apartment. Each listing tells you whether it's in Tower 1 or Tower 2, and our two-bedrooms are all in Tower 2. If you'd rather be in one tower than the other, say so in your message and we'll look at what's open there on your dates.

Is the pool usable all year?

Yes. Because the water is kept at a controlled temperature, a swim is just as pleasant in the cooler months as in summer. It also looks out towards Burj Khalifa.

Is Act One | Act Two a good choice with children?

It works well for families. There's a kids' play area with its own pool, a children's playground and family rooms, plus barbecue zones outside. If you need more space, ask us about the two-bedrooms.
